Dashboard Upgrade

I am about to have the interior of my ’96 Chimaera 400 re-trimmed and as the dashboard needs replacing, I will be updating it to the later style with bezelled indicators, rotary light switch etc.. I’ve managed to get hold of all the dashboard mounted switches and indicators including the PCB mounted LEDs but I’m not sure whether there are any other components/modules required ‘upstream’ to make all these work or is it just a matter of transferring/extending the existing wiring over to the new items. Has anyone else done this? A wiring diagram for the later models would be a real help if anyone can point me in the right direction.

you'll need a few of the TVR "black boxes" heater and lighting immeadiately spring to mind

Unless there is a specific wiring diagram out there,the standard drawing is about as useful as a chocolate teapot when it comes to the dash
As said there are various control boxes,heater,lights,central locking,windows,together with linking ribbon cables,I don't know how much of this is carried over or indeed fitted to the earlier chims
I have just reassembled mine 2000 car after an 18 month lay up and it had me scratching my head and missing a bit of loom but it's all there now,I can take a picture if you like so you can compare the physical layout with yours
The usual suspects up north are breaking a late chim at the mo and I was able to source the missing loom from them albeit at the normal inflated costs,depending on the changes it might be the way to go for you

Would that be from teh same guys as are doing the £1,499 34,000 mile gearbox at the moment?

Thanks guys - Looks like I’m going to be inflating the economy of the North East by another chunk in the near future. As for the wiring diagram, I agree, finding one that bears a passing resemblance to what’s actually installed is to say the least, challenging…
In fact I think there’s a business opportunity out there for someone who knows their way around TVR electrics and can use a PC drawing programme. I’m sure I’m not the only one who would gladly pay a reasonable sum for it.
