I live in a condo In S E Asia, last year a neighbor died suddenly, and last night I was talking to his widow. She has had very bad time with probate and his SsangYong Kyron, has stood for nearly a year. The car was locked as normal, but the battery is now flat, and she says it is 'impossible to unlock the car with a flat battery'. I've never seen this, and I'm tempted to say she is just not unlocking the car properly, (maybe not turning the key fully), but I have a recollection of reading that some BMW's can lock you out if the battery goes flat.
I am trying to find time to look at the car for her, but this is new to me and I'd appreciate any advice.
She has been very distressed as her husband leaving an estate in SE Asia, Aus and the UK, and when he died she lost her residency rights and had a hard time even staying in the country to sort things out, so I'd like to help.

I can see a physical key slot on the door.

Sometimes you might have to pull the handle whilst turning the key at the same time.

yes looks like lifting the handle is worth a try, easy if it works, or a battery to the starter positive, I have a jump pack
So It looks like a way I've mailed her and told her not to get the tow man in until I look.
Thanks much appreciated advice

Surely a scrap yard can lift it on to a truck without opening it?

The End, thanks for that, worked a treat last night, joggel the handle with the Key, she was absolutely delighted, local garage had told her they needed to break in and tow away, and made a stupid offer for the car.
She was distressed enough to have taken it, with all the other problems she has had being widowed overseas, now she is gettign anew battery and talking about keeping the car.
This forum at it best helping a stranger, much appreciated.
