random subwoofer thumping
Discussion
I have a mordaunt short system in my lounge and the sub starting emitting random thumps, sufficiently so for em to replace it with a wharfdale one.
Having done some reading, it seems the capacitors degrade over time, causing the thumps?
Would it be feasible to take out the innards of the sub and maybe replace the capacitors to see if that fixes the issue?

I had this with a Quad Lite sub. I spoke to a repair guy, he said it may be caps, or more likely one of the output transistors. It was a transistor, so he replaced all of them with higher rated items. £50.
4 years on, and it's still working fine.
Caps is generally a DIY job, as it's often possible to see which one is failing. I've replaced a few in various items.
