Has anybody got recommendations for ht leads running off aftermarket ecu and coil packs
I have a possible interference problem with my new ecu install,changing the plugs to resistor has improved things and I can't find anything wrong with the install. The supplied leads are very short to the point I have had to use plug extenders on a couple and I would prefer to route them away from any ecu wiring
Interestingly I have emailed the supplier but have had no response,I can only assume he perhaps is a bit slow in reading his emails, AT LEAST I HOPE THATS THE SITUATION!

I had a similar issue with lead length and connectors when buying leads to suit my Ford Gen 2 coil packs which are mounted at the front of the engine near to where the distributor would have been.
There are a few options as far as I could see that I researched;
Buy a custom made set from Magnecor. Very expensive £144 +VAT and delivery for the leads and £72 +VAT for the matched extenders that they said I still needed, mixed feedback from others about suitability and very slow and poor customer service in my experience so did not bother.
Buy a custom made set from Formula Power - Quoted £94 for a set of leads with relatively quick delivery. No need for extenders if you use heat socks. This is my plan b....
Find an old school motor factors that has single leads on the shelf and buy them individually as required. I did manage to find one supplier in Leicester and purchased a single lead to replace a lead that had fallen apart. It was about £3 for a single lead and it worked well with no running issues. Went back to buy a full set a few weeks later and he explained that he was no longer replenishing his stock of single leads and did not have what I needed. Apparently people would rather buy a complete set specifically for there car.
I took a chance a purchased two sets of OES714 Ignition HT Lead Set from Euro Car Parts. £34 for the set of 8. I removed the extenders at the same time and fitted some cheap heat socks from ebay. They have been on the car for about 3 months now, no issues and much better running that I had before. I figure at that price I can replace them more frequently if they suffer with the heat. One of the leads is about 5cm too long but I was able to route it differently and has not been a problem.

I would also echo the comments about Moroso (bought mine as kit from Real Steel a few years back, so you cut and crimp the plug ends on yourself, using the special tool. Have never had any problems with them, unlike a certain other brand which kept breaking leads.I found out that the so-called lifetime guarantee didn't cover that, so paid for replacements until I saw sense and bought Moroso.
MSD 8.5 double jacket Super Conductors for me.
The MSD Super Conductor universal lead set I used is MSD part number 31189, this set is red:

Buy from Summit Racing using their pre paid import tax system called I-Parcel, this saves delays at the post office this end and the inevitable silly money tax bill you'll be presented with when you collect your parcel from Postman Pat.
PN:31189 (red) & PN:31183 (black) both come with straight plug ends & right angle distributor ends, having a Canems system on wasted spark I obviously didn't need the dizzy ends. I bought eight EDIS coil pack ends here, cheap and good service but you need to email or call him as his website is a bit basic.

I made up the leads myself, the shortest lead in the MSD set was plenty long enough, and the longest leads are very long indeed so no issues there.
After fitting these MSD leads the car immediately idled better on both fuels and seemed to pick up 100 revs or so on gas at idle, in fact it idled very smoothly indeed on gas, a fuel that's notoriously hard to ignite.
I did a double wrapping system to protect the lead ends and the first six inches of led, MSD Super Conductors are very heat resistant without this additional protection but I wanted to make 100% sure there would be no melting issues as I wanted to delete the problematic extenders.

At least I now know if I blow a lead on one of my continental trips (has already happened) I can get some nice long spares from a local Ford dealer or a motor factor.
A set of four of the Ford Ka leads kept in the boot as spares is something I'm going to consider too.

A word of caution. The links above are to leads for Gen 1 Ford Coil Packs, which are very different to the Gen 2 Ford Coils packs.At least I now know if I blow a lead on one of my continental trips (has already happened) I can get some nice long spares from a local Ford dealer or a motor factor.
