Vinal roof wrap
Discussion
Hi all,
I`m new to the forum (this is my first post) but have been a watcher for a good while. I have a V8V 2006 that I have owned for a year or so and been doing loads of work to Inc. new custom two tone leather upholstery, red callipers headers sports cats, self-dimming mirror, stone chips and paint correction, new cills, rear diffuser etc etc. Ive really struggled to find decent companies that will complete work to a top std. but am getting there now. I have also fitted a V12 boot lid and bonnet from a salvage car as well!!
I’m planning to come to Burghley house in the summer but very envious of some of the cars that will be on display.
One thing im pondering is to have a Black roof "wrap" done. Question: Has any one had this done previously and by whom?
I live close to Dunstable and would welcome any advice or recommendations of companies that have done this before well.
I assume it would be gloss black?
I look forward to any replies and advice
Thanks in advance
Dave

Nice looking car, superb colour (Tungsten?). Interior is refreshing too, great job.
I Disagree. That car is classy as it is. If you must wrap then I would say Black gloss roof and in between tail lamps.
I've used these guys and was happy for protection film. I expect they would be just as good with wraps.
They were organised for me by Aston. Now I know who they are, I go to them for anything vinyl.

I think a gloss black roof would suit your car and its colour.
The V12 bonnet must've set you back a fair whack?! Thought about a V12S carbon grille?

Your car looks great, Dave. I suspect that you might continue with many more changes yet. You did well to find a write-off V12 Vantage. The keeper of the Register would perhaps like to know the VIN.
I had not heard of an Isetta race car before. Suspect that your Vantage might be quicker !
If you do really want opinions about the roof wrap, I am in the not sure camp. Some of the V12VS cars with black roofs, have a strongly contrasting body colour (photos).
With your car there would be much less contrast, so may not look quite so good.

A good point, but from the pics there appears to be decent contast with the bonnet vents, so should be good ....With your car there would be much less contrast, so may not look quite so good.
Hi All,
Thanks for the comments so far - im plesently surprised for the positive comments. Im not sure if ive gone too far with what was a basic "old" vantage? It was pretty rough when I bought it but coming back to life now. Mechanically its fine, I had Chiltern Aston check it over and it came back with only minor problems all of which have been corrected. Its off to David Appleby in March to have a twin plate clutch fitted. Will be interested to see what a difference it makes? At least my left foot will welcome it !! I think if i do the roof it will be gloss black. If I dont like it, guess i can have the wrap removed. Im not a lover of carbon but had no choice with the bonnet vents. I was in the right place at the right time to the V12 bits!! I have a friend in the trade and he tipped me off, the boot took a hell of a lot of work to fit, its still not perfect but looks the part.
Im also trying to do this on a budget and Ebay is proving champion. I have a DBS gear knob to fit now - another Ebay bargain.
The car is in storage for the winter but just wanting the sun to come out. Ive kept most of the old parts so can put the car back to standard if reqd. Its an ongoing project / Hobby.
Just in case any one is interested ref to jons comment the Isetta "race" car is a sctatch built project on going by me. Its an Aluminiun box chassis with a 1300 Suzuki Hyabussa engine strapped on then has a custom made fibreglass Isetta bubble car body shell on top! Its a complete one off and I would think will be faster than the Aston off the line !!! It weighs nothing and I have about 200bhp to play with with the motor as is.
I also own a concourse winning Std Isetta 300, complete contrast really but I love all cars.
