Could any body advise if there is a card reader machine that works with no land line.
I have a shop, but I got rid of the land line.
I have WiFi internet access on my lap top, and also mobile phone.
I found no reason at this time to need a land line any longer, I was also plagued with automated, and cold calling calls.
My needs are, if possible.
1. Face to face transactions.
2. Some sort of over the phone transaction, this is the one I'm dubious of.
We used to have the Streamline type years ago, which worked with a phone line, but really don't want to be tied to a monthly contract, takings on the card would be low, as I don't really like taking cards, but, the way of the world is forcing my hand to take them.
Many Thanks.

Yes there are GPRS based terminals available.
I'm sure Streamline/Worldpay will be able to help, or you can get something like IZettle or Paypal Here, which work via a mobile phone; although with larger transactions those will probably work out quite expensive on fees.

We trialled an iZettle and it worked well, and free terminal with no monthly fees is a breath of fresh air compared to the awful experience of getting a merchant account. However, I don't know if you can do cardholder not present transactions with them?

You can get a mobile terminal from all the providers, it has a SIM card in it for the data it will use.

With a 'sub prime' card like Vanquis they insist on their website that a landline and mobile number is entered - They also always call before issuing the card.
