My tracker unit is broken and found this out as my battery would go flat after 2 days!furious Anyway my dealer is fitting a new one.biggrin (all done under my extended warranty, well that's nearly paid for itself already this year thumbup)

Question is, my car had the old system fitted, which I used my phone to act as a tracker pad, as the size of the old tracker pads were rather large. From what I have been told, I can't use my phone with the new system and will have to go back to tracker pads? can anyone let me know what the size of these pads are and do they have replaceable batteries??

Any info would be good thumbup

It may be a Cobra system, which has pads about half the size of the earlier system.

The original tracker pads are 85 x 55 mm. The new ones are 55 x 40 mm. They do not have an Aston logo but can be switched off when not in use which should extend the life of the battery.

And the batteries are simple coin cells. Easy to replace.
The Cobratrak system is actually pretty damn good.

I think my 2006 V8V originally came with a Tracker Monitor although maybe the original owner had this fitted.

I've just had it upgraded to Tracker Locate last week.

I did post a reply on this topic on another thread a couple of weeks ago as I had the same problem with the tracker failing and draining the battery. The replacement Vodafone/Cobratrak system has been problem free since it was fitted to my V12V last September. I have included a photo of the tag to give you an idea of the size. As has been previously mentioned the tag can be switched off to conserve battery power when not in use and the battery itself is easy to change. Still a pain not being able to use the mobile to pair but it's better than the previous Eurowatch tag. Hope this helps.

I'm a bit late to the topic and slightly off. I forgot to take my tracker tag a couple of times but always remembered my phone (which as you say cannot now be paired to the tracker). This case by Harber bought through Etsy has a tag sized pocket so the phone and tag are always together.

I got my car back and its got the new Cobra (Vodaphone)unit installed and I have two of the trackpads in the image above. I phone and activate my pads and tracker with my car and everything's fine. When I say to the person on the phone, after the pads are paired with the car, "so I can now turn off the pads", they say no, they need to stay on all the time. I ask what will happen if I turn them off and then on again, when I want to use the car? They said there is a possibility that the pad will not be recognised by the car, because its been off.

I also ask about the battery life of the pad if its on all the time, they say about a year and a half. When it is low on battery, you get a txt to say this. Change the battery and call the activation line to re-pair the tag.

Ok, so do I have to have the tags on all the time? If I do, will they actually last a year and a half? Will they, if I turn them off, un-pair themselves with the car? If you can't turn them off, why is there a button to be able to turn them on and off?

We have had our tracker tags since last March and whenever the car is not being used I switch them off and never had any problem when they are switched back on.

Same here. Of course it does raise the question that if its out of range, what difference does it make if its on or off? wink
