Bought used Q5 few months ago & having lots problems with 3 of the doors (especially driver) not opening from the outside.

They all open fine from the inside. I keep trying the opening both handles either side of door several times and it seems to rectify itself for a day or two (no idea if that is helping or if it just opens on own)

Can't find much info about this being a problem (some A5 have this wear the cable gets weathered) so have lubricated drivers cable a week ago and it's been fine until today.

3 doors now unable to open

Does anyone have any experience or advice on this?
Many thanks

Issue with the deadlock feature? Can't see it being a physical connection problem if 3 doors are affected.

It seems to be a common problem on the Q3 too. Apparently Audi have a fix for it however I've no idea what the cost would be if your car is out of Audi warranty.

When it fails next, drop the window. Then pull the inside release. If it opens ok and then the outer handle works properly as well. New Door lock required. Cable on it's own (from lock to outer handle) can fix it temporarily but not normally

1-1.5hr labour plus whatever the lock costs. Could be expensive if it's 3 doors!

Very likely; All B8 platform cars (A4/5 & Q5) can suffer this, particularly earlier ones. The sensors on cars fitted with keyless are rubbish quality also.

Thanks for the replies

Do you think a computer diagnostic check will identify if new lock required? (Rather than just cables)

Yup; they show faults when they die.

Guy I know who is an Audi technician had a look & dud diagnostic check

2 locks needed for rear doors
Cable in drivers door
Will get to replace all cables (may as well if doing 3 doors anyway)

I reckon won't get much change out of £400

Anyone recommend cheap place to buy Audi locks & cables?
