you travel back or forth in time. What would you do and where would you go?

Rules - no betting on sports or investing to make millions since this is too predictable.

Think I would travel back to see my wife when she was a little girl growing up.

I'd travel back to 7.00am this morning so I could get the bins out in time.

How can you post such a potentially interesting thread and ruin it in your own post?!

I wouldn't travel back in time. I've seen Star Trek and know about timelines.

Op that is amazingly creepy sounding but you probably meant it innocently lol.
For me I'd travel back to the world wars to really see how terrible they were, as I find documentaries really can't show how much fear must have been running through the soldiers on the front lines.

I would go back to around 1790 BCE in Judea and assassinate Abraham.

I'd hang the consequences of the time continuum disruption and go back and give people a shed load of tech knowledge really early on. Admittedly this might cause loads of wars and death, but on the flipside, we'd probably be out the other side of our petty human squabbles and in other star systems by now. I should never be allowed anywhere near a time machine!!

Your ancestors might have been killed so you never get to experience warp speed. Or holodeck love.

I read that as 'headlock love' and was about to google it!

Me, I'd travel back to see my Nana. I watch my little girl with my Mum and love it., it reminds me of my Nana. My mum used to love watching us with our Nana so I'd like to see it with my own eyes.

Yeah, but how do you know the present timeline wasn't the result of you going back in time to share your knowledge of Tech?

All that ancient alien crap? Those helicopter and tank hieroglyphs found from thousands of years ago? That was just you trying to spread your tech knowledge earlier and earlier to change the present

Tough questions.

Giving knowledge to our forebears is an intriguing idea, but you would have to be very careful or would soon be burned as a witch or for being different.

Planting the seed of ideas into the heads of other clever people might be a way to make progress without your own eventual destruction.

I might go back to the Library at Alexandria and see what it did contain, then organise the saving of it's works for humanity. Perhaps we would be a few hundred years further on now if it had survived being sacked.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Library_of_Alexandri...

Meeting significant figures from history might be disappointing as they are only human after all.

Assassinating various despots is quite interesting, Hitler, PolPot, etc etc

we are never going to invent time travel,
when I was a kid I remember telling myself that if we did, I should meet my young self at a certain time and place, it didnt happen.

I had been watching a film at the cinema or on tv I guess.

Just back and forth in time?

I.e, you end up at the same spot but a different time? Or can you travel to different places too?

A deep question. My obvious answer is to go back to 1983 and prevent the road accident which killed my Dad. But that might disrupt my life's timeline enough to prevent my children being born, and I can't risk that.

In fact, any form of travel back is fraught with danger for one's existing present. I suppose if one isn't happy with what one has then one might not care.

So a it would be a trip to the future for me. But how far? I don't know. Hmm.

Which clearly leaves you only one realistic option... you travel back to a few weeks ago and buy the winning lottery ticket (prior to the week the two £33million winners won)

This is something I have often pondered. Say I drop my mobile in c.1700 Britain, would it really mean that much change for 2016? Surely they would burn it as witch craft.

I would like to go back and leave my future self something of worth buried near my home now. Is this allowed?

Hotel de France car park some time in the 1950's just to close out what that strange little car is.
