Woohoo, snow.... Or rather oh woe is me, it's going to be snowing on Monday and I need to be at Gatwick about 9:30AM.

Now knowing our wonderful transport system, I have very little faith in the trains being able to function early on Monday. I'm thinking of going down Sunday evening, but as my flight is not until 12:30 in the afternoon, I don't fancy kipping in the terminal.

Does anyone know any decent cheap hotels near the airport (I'll be on foot or using public transport) so I can be there for about 09:30.

You could have a lovely night out in Crawley!

Funnily enough, I'll be flying from Gatwick on Monday, only a bit later than you otherwise we could have gone on a beer and biscuit bender.

I'd recommend staying at the Gatwick Hilton - It's part of the airport...so no hassles.

Full selection of travel inn, travel lodge, premier lodges a mile or so off the airport - try Crawley rather than Gatters as location.

The Gatwick Manor (pub restuarant) has a premier lodge IIRC so you can eat & drink before going to bed.

I've stayed at the holiday inn there before. There is also a holiday inn express nearby.

Is this becoming a mini-meet...I'll probably be on the 8am Frankfuurt flight!?!

Remember that if you stay in one of the better hotels they let you park your car there also, so what you may spend on the hotel room, you will save on parking (which admittedly isn't as bad at Gatwick as it is at some other airports!).

Oh, and suffice to say to be there at 9.30 is such a pain, no matter where you're coming from!!

Ikon and Diva nightclubs?!

You want to come to Haywards Heath - now that is *the* place for some action

But is it easy to get from the Holiday Inn Express to the airport?

You might want to try laterooms.co.uk or is it .com to see if they do any cheap deals on hotels in the area.

There is a travel Inn within about 500 yards of north Terminal. Scores of hotels B and Bs in the area, but as you seem to be dependent on public transport you need to find out if they have a bus to the airport or you are reliant on Crawleys Fastway bus service.

I've managed to get a room at the Holiday Inn at the south terminal for a very acceptable rate thanks to a friend who works for them. Talk about suddenly feeling relaxed! I think I'm going to stay at airports all the time from now on.

I can't believe how nervous public transport and our crumbling road network makes me.
