Garmin touring Edge

Having exhausted trying, can anyone tell whether on my Garmin touring I can display my ascent on the timer page rather than the Total Descent that is showing. It appears it prefers to show you how much downhill I have done whereas I am only interested in the ascent.

The ascent only shows when i decide to have 8 or more options displayed which is too many for me..

Sounds like you've found your way through to the menu where you can change the number of data fields but haven't realised that you also customise the data field displayed from this location too. Try:

Settings (tool icon) ->
Trip Pages ->
Timer ->
Set preferred number of data fields and then tick ->
The screen now swipes and you get just a single tick at the bottom (don't hit this yet) ->
From this screen just tap on the data field you want to change and it will bring up the data category menu ->
Select the relevant category (presumably elevation in your case) and then the desired parameter to be displayed ->
Once you are setup confirm by pressing the tick at the bottom of the page.

Alternatively to just change one data field whilst the timer page is displayed (e.g. during a ride) just tap and hold on the data field you wish to change for a second or 2 and the data category menu will pop up allowing you to change the displayed field.
