Discussion
After Lemmy, David Bowie, Glenn Frey and many others, today sees Colin Vearncombe pass away from his injuries sustained in a car accident a fortnight ago...

Obviously more famous for his iconic mid-1980's song "Wonderful Life", it surprised me to find out that he had released lots of albums and was more prolific than I thought. Sad way to go and like all of the other losses to the music industry, gone too early at just 53.
RIP Colin.

I wonder if we are close to breaking some kind of awful music business death record this month?
I'm sad to read this, I hold 'Wonderful Life' as one of my favourite songs of all time, the album of the same name is fantastic too, very moody, i've actually got it on cassette somewhere.

I bought the follow up album too, but not so many other people did. I looked for it, but it seems to have disappeared in the "great cassette tape clear out" of 2012. I'll have to make do with the 'Best Of' CD I have on the shelf downstairs...
Very sad. I'd been following updates since his accident but his passing seemed inevitable sadly.
The album 'Comedy' is a fantastic piece of work, some stunning vocals on there, 'You're a Big Girl Now' in particular.
Only saw one gig in recent years when he toured with The Christians. A fantastic evening and he stood at the bar chatting with fans before and after his set.

I recognise some of the tracks so must have it (or have had it), but I didn't get on with it as well as 'Wonderful life'. The album 'Comedy' is a fantastic piece of work, some stunning vocals on there, 'You're a Big Girl Now' in particular.

'Everything is coming up roses' is superb and 'Just making memories' is out of this world, I remember driving back (late at night) foot to the floor from my first serious GFs parents house to this in my Alfa.
I'm trying so hard
To make life an orchard
In my own back yard.
Life is a breeze!
I'm just making memories,
Good times or bad,
(I'm making, I'm making)
I'm just making memories,
You're the best that I've had.
I'm still living
My teenage angst,
On the printed page
And in other ways.
So if I seem cruel,
It's only the fool in me,
That wants to try
And see if you'll cry.
Oh the rain dribbles down
Me in my beatitude,
My collar and shirt,
Down legs to battered shoes.
Life is a breeze!

Indeed, '....Roses' really is tremendous, so much going on in that song!'Everything is coming up roses' is superb and 'Just making memories' is out of this world, I remember driving back (late at night) foot to the floor from my first serious GFs parents house to this in my Alfa.
The company I work for had 'Wonderful Life' as their phone on-hold music for years so I did get a little tired of it, but I hope we paid him handsomely for the privilege!
