My ps4 is newish and im wondering if i need to swap it, i.e. is it faulty or is it just the game.

I only have gta5 as a game and when driving fast through the city the fps slows down a bit, its quite noticeable and unfortunately takes away a bit of the games charm.

Is this a known fault on the ps4 that has never actually been sorted? Ive installed all the updates but all i can find on the internet is people complaining in 2014 so not sure if it is my console?

You need to return it and buy an XB1.

GTA5 performs slightly better on PS4 than XB1. Digital Foundry PS4 v XBone GTA5

So that won't solve the issues.

At best it runs at 30fps on both, but both will see drops from that. People don't complain because it's pretty much expected nowadays for games on consoles to not even maintain 30fps. Both consoles see fps drops during faster driving / heavy traffic sections.

Both of the next gen consoles have been pretty disappointing when it comes to frame rates, honestly.

This. PC gaming all the way. And you don't need to spend mad money, you can build a machine for not much more than the price of a new console that will dump all over an XB or PC.

config issues, crashes etc. I understand PC's and gaming is always going to be superior but there is a lot less hassle with a console and, allegedly, a lot less cheating. Remember punkbuster killing BF3 on the PC?

I turn my PC on and I'm playing the game of my choice 20 seconds later.

There's a bit more to it, sure. But if better frames, graphics, value and gameplay are for you it's a no brainer. And there's plenty of pre built options that you can literally plug and play too for sensible coin.

Can't remember the last config issue I had to be fair and the same can be said for crashes. I just update the GPU driver every few months and that's about it. I have had my PS4 lock up, though!

Cheating I will agree with. It drove me away from multiplayer gaming completely, but then it also happened on the last gen consoles!

I still like my consoles, but it's a doddle now to pick up your fave pad, stick it in a pc, connect said PC to any size screen / TV you want (or multiple screens) and listen to it all through pretty much any amp and speaker setup you prefer.

It's also a lot quicker at updating games in my experience!

Id love to do PC gaming but whereas once I had to be mouse and keyboard and couldn't use a controller, it is now the other way around! IF I could play BF on a PC with the controller (which I can) but on servers where others were doing the same and not having an unfair advantage, I would switch

who cares about ultra 4k resolution? Not me, as for the differences between XB1 and PS4 I really struggle to see them and not overly bothered (see my going back to last gen thread;))

Hate to say it, but you are pretty spot on. I sold my xone copy as the game is utterly transformed at 2k and 4k but is also a much better experience at 1080p running at more than the dark-aged 30fps and low res of the xbox.

Maybe the xboxtwo and ps5 will have the horsepower to make this game play as it was meant to be played!
