And if you want it in 1st gear rather than 2nd to pull away, give the throttle a gentle tap.

Another little question regarding dct..

When in manual is there any difference in the 3 gearbox settings.. I've had a quick play but didn't notice anything?

Which car, which 3 settings?

E92 M3 has 6 settings for manual gearbox ranging from slow and smooth to fast and thumpy, mine's set on 5.

Each one is progressively faster and more "emotional" in that in S3 at WOT and a top revs the changes punch home and give you a thump in the back (SMG style) the exhaust will also let out a crack on up shift as well.

M5 and the new M3/4 have 3, but the same theory as the old 6 settings apart from you don't have to turn the TC off to get the fastest shift like you did with the e9* DCT

S6 in the E60 M5 was off the chart mental as the smack was so intense you thought the gearbox was going to appear in the rear view mirror sat on the tarmac. Sounded epic but was a tad overboard.

Every day is a learning day! Never knew this and it annoys the hell out of me when it decides to pull off in 2nd.

Cheers.

Thanks, I had no idea it'd changed.

It's very random with that as well, I can't work out how it decides.

Ahh right I didn't know, I just tried it a few times driving normally, probably why I didn't notice anything..

The car will respond in a markedly different way when your "on it" in the top settings it becomes a bit of an animal compared to the docile behaviour in D1 and everything in comfort.

Not the weather for that kind of driving at the moment, but on a dry summers day when you can get it to grip the differences in the settings is obvious.

Agree about the weather but have had chance to "put my foot down" a couple of times recently , up to the speed limit of course, then you realise why you bought an M laugh

A DCT doesn't "creep" like a TC auto either, does it?

It comes to a stop but will creep if you blip the loud pedal
