I see that the 33 million has been claimed and verified by Camelot. Ticket described as 'undamaged'.
I despair of people sometimes - did she really think she would get away with it?

I did chuckle when I saw the damaged ticket. Everything on it totally illegible apart from the winning numbers. That was some very selective washing.

Sold story to papers - possibly a film or book deal? Might not be £33m, but a few quid in the pocket for someone who isn't worried about their name carrying any integrity. Goo luck to her I say - I mean £33m is one hell of an incentive - people have done much worse for much, much less.

I can't agree. She attempted fraud. That's a criminal offence.

So she attempted this ruse before:

a former friend of Miss Hinte told The Sun the grandmother has previously tried to collect a £200 prize on a damaged scratchcard, claiming it had been dropped in a puddle.

Camelot/The Police should take her to the cleaners...

Make an example of her. Is there an offence of attempted fraud?

Actually, if that photo came from the lorry driver, could be charged under the new revenge porn laws?

She's going to jail. End of.
http://www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/14231001.Lotte...

A national lottery spokesman said: "With prizes of this size, it’s perfectly normal to receive lots of claims from people who genuinely think that they may have mislaid or thrown away what they believe was the winning ticket.

"That’s what we’re seeing now – and we are looking into all of these claims as part of our efforts to find the rightful ticket-holder. "However, if we believe that somebody has intentionally attempted to defraud The National Lottery, then, just like any other company, we reserve the right to take whatever action we consider is appropriate."

John Plimmer, a former West Midlands Police detective, said anyone caught making a fraudulent claim could face jail.

"If there is evidence someone deliberately tried to con Camelot to get their hands on £33 million then obviously that's a crime," he said.

"They wouldn't have to successfully claim the money to be found guilty. Anyone convicted could be looking at a heavy custodial sentence."

Totally off topic, but someone pointed out to me that most of those numbers are the chosen numbers of various racing motorcyclists.
