Other than a warped brake disk, can anyone suggest a cause for severe vibration under moderate road braking in my M400?

Thanks,
Dom.

Great link! I have had the problem and solved it with a wire brush on a drill. I spent about 1 minute per rotor face and it went away.

Thanks for the replies guys... I think I may need to take a close look at the disks! The car's pretty much new but I have had the brakes 'stick' a couple of times after washing it and putting it back in the garage so maybe there's some sort of deposit on the disks that I haven't seen

More than likely, I recommend you give it a jolly good pasting with plenty of high speed brakeing in order to clean them off - in other words a perfect excuse for a trackday

Yes - the only time I had this, a few high speed stops sorted it out.

Too much gently, gently driving.....

Sticky brakes after washing seems normal, I've had it several times. If you can, take it for a spin after washing to dry off the brakes before parking it for a while. I think this is more of a problem in colder damp weather.

Thanks for the advice matt t16. I've got a nice big overflow RAF base nearby that I can use as and when so nipped down there last night and had a bit of fun

I found a nice long straight bit of wide tarmac, the runway, and used the 1.5 miles to run up some speed (80-120mph) then brake as hard as possible but without locking the wheels. A brief cooldown period and off again. After about 6 runs the vibration seemed to have gone.

Strange thing is, I'm still getting a bit of vibration under normal road braking but not under hard 'track' braking???

Maybe need to go back down the airfield for another play
