Advice Required

Hi to you all need some help i am on the verge of selling my car which i have had for 10 years and have spent quite alot of money doing various items lots of painting to the engine bay suspension upgrades disc upgrade leven parts new dash new alarm act induction magnecor leads and so on.A couple of small areas need paint eg wing mirror and top face of rear bumper she has only covered 19000 miles and has always been garaged and is in great condition for a 4 lt 1996 car .i have not been following the TVR fourums for some years and am out of touch a little with real values i have been offered £9000 and am wondering if i am letting her go to cheap ??? would appriciate any thoughts before i make this decission

If the engine bay is anything to go by and the rest of the car is upto that standard then t does seem a bargain to me. Such low milage does pose its own questions but if it's been run regularly and kept in top order then it's a very special car,, think of what you could replace it with for the same money,,, difficult,, ! Any more pics of chassis and interior and brakes would be good,, it looks a cracker

Pity about the spelling on the Plenum chamber.
If the chassis is A1, no rust or been re-ferbed then £9k is bottom money but if you want out of the car quick it's fair, probably worth a few more thousand in Spring with the sun out.

Spend some time in the classifieds and you will get a good idea of how much a good condition 4.0 can fetch. Also keep in mind prices go up in April/May time when the idea of a TVR for the summer really gains some traction for most potential buyers. If you can invest in getting the few bits done you feel need attention you may get more than you imagine and have been offered

the chassis is in great condition and has not been restored i am not sure if it has ever seen rain certainly not in the ten years i have had her and the chap who had her before me never as far as i am aware used it in the rain and like me was always stored in a garage i still run her when i can and have always had the oil s changed on a regular basis

It a picture of the underneath that reveals the true value, but based on that history I'd say it's worth £12kish.

Yes chassis is the most important part, body work and engine is easy to access. The chassis is very time consuming job, and if you get someone else to restore it as a body lift whilst changing all ancillaries you won't get much change from 10k !!!, and restoration prices are on the rise.

19,000 miles and not been wet for a decade - must be worth way more than 9 grand even in this weather?
Click on that photo and zoom in and it looks absolutely mint - brake discs look brand new - drilled fronts, matching Dunlop tyres all round on spotless alloys, really good colour scheme with cream piped carpets. Doesn't even look like the 'screens delaminating. Even if the outriggers are knackered it's less than 2k to replace.
I'd wait 'til "summer" before selling and try for 15 grand.

Assuming it's as good as it looks, I'd say you're underpricing it.

Have a look at what some of the well-known dealers would ask for a car in that condition / mileage - not that you'd achieve their sort of prices as a private sale, but it will give an idea as to your suggested figure.

The issue, as I've been considering for years, is what to replace it with. It's why I've had mine for as long as I can remember

Hi all thanks for all the good comments on the car she is totally Genuine sorry I have not been able to post comments until now as I have spent all night in hospital with the wife.
I am certainly now considering that I am under valuing my car and may consider keeping her and doing a few trips with her again maybe even Le Mans once more.
For those who mentioned the chassis earlier all you have underneath is bright silver powder coat and none of that horrible orange/ brown stuff .really hard decision to sell but thanks to you all I am not going to part with her for 9 k

Hi Andy43 sorry forgot to say well spotted with the disc they are spotties if you look even closer I had the outer Hubs and the inner cooling fins powder coated in gold to match the tvr badges that I changed from silver to gold

Take a look at the TVR dealership prices; RG , str8six , agger, etc, l reckon your car is worth top money for a 4litre, then add extra on for; condition, originality and low miles, these cars should be priced at high teens for 1st class examples like yours.

I totally agree with Portzi, the simple truth is your car sir is a rare beast, you may have owned and got used to the car but if you sold it,, where would you find another example at that standard without paying a fortune for it,, original cars in this kind of condition will double in price in the next ten years,, the memories of unreliable cars slowly disapates as time goes by as owners slowly make these cars more and more reliable,, original unmolested cars are not necessarily my thing but they are and will be very valuable as the years role on. Keep it and sell the missus,, hehe.

Hi guys thanks for all the replys I will keep her and continue the good work that I started 10 Yrs ago and continue the legacy all my friends take the Mick saying sell the plastic pig buy a porker which they seem to favour can never come close to the feeling of driving a tiv will be looking to recover the hood a could do with some advise with reccommended company's near to bucks to undertake this .

Yep, choose your sunny days carefully and you can still enjoy the thrill, drama, and pure driving pleasure of a very rare car that is any Tvr let alone such a fine example, driving a really honest Tvr is so much more than just the speed, for all its faults which in a way is only few, these things ignite car passion as good as any car, are actually pretty reliable and once sorted, cheap to run, every Porsche that's come near me I just look around my cabin, listen to the rumble, shut off for a second for a crac and pop, resume my very accurate constant speed, even though it doesn't actually corolate to the speedo with any great accuracy, and just fall in love with the thing a bit more,, I forgive it's foibles and oddocies, and on top of all that every day I drive it it's probably worth more today than it was yesterday and it'll be worth more again tomorrow,,, so it actually justifies and satisfies my desire to nurture and develop the car with the full confidence the worlds waking up to the older Tivs and seeing nice nice cars that are earning their right to being called fantastic cars,, there's just nowt like em,
We don't know how lucky we are maybe. Live without one for awhile and it's not great,,, you may recover but I very much doubt it I'm drunk so sod my gramma !
