997.2 C4S - not feeling the love for it..

Where to start, the drivers door has refused to open on two occasions, numerous rattles, squeaks and creaks around the interior - dash clocks, behind the glovebox, passenger seat, something from the rear, windows keep misting up and the blower can't clear it, etc. You would have thought after 50 years of refinement these wouldn't be an issue. The headlights, well my bog std a4 with xenons that is 5 years older are way way better.
On the pluses, the flat six when rev'd with pse is quite enjoyable but not a fan of the light steering or the bouncy suspension.
The opc are hopefully collecting the car next week to sort out the rattles, etc but I am sorely tempted to leave it with them for good...

The fact that you bought it from an OPC should mean it has good provenance but it does sound as though yours has been dismantled in the past and not put back together again properly! I have a 997.2 Targa 4S and the only thing that rattles is the roof mechanism as you'd expect - everything else is solid.
Light steering? Do you brim the fuel tank? Mine only feels light at the front when it's running on fumes. Have you got Michelin PS2s fitted? Would be worth OPC double-checking the wheel alignment.
Not really noticed the headlights lacking either...
I am with you on the misting up though! Especially in this particularly wet weather. Advice seems to be to get large bags of silica gel and leave them in over night and dry off on a radiator overnight. Get OPC to check the a/c condenser drain holes are clear?

Ermm sounds to me like you are new to 911's?
I have had a good few and love them, but you have to love them really, judged inch for inch against many other cars they dont score top.
Take the light steering, pretty much what 911 drivers expect ...but many may argue a more balanced weighting is better. When i got my current 911, my referance to goood was how similar to previous 911's it was ......

Completely opposite of my C4S. 
Even I'm disappointed that your car has issues. On the not feeling love thing, these things happen with certain cars and you can't love `em all. I bought a Saleen expecting to love it and after a week I realised it done nothing for me. A Monaro test drive left me disappointed and an Audi S4 had me bored to tears within 5 miles and yet I loved my old Mondeo ST220? I can`t work it out either.
My experience after 4 or 5 Porsches is that the build quality is very good. I agree on the condensation on the windscreen though it does occur a lot in winter months. Headlamps fine, I really hate this current trend for manufacturers to fit lamps that burn the retinas of oncoming drivers. Dipped beam headlamps have got out of hand.
My experience of the Gen 2 cars doesn't match that, but I've not driven the OPs car. One of mine has a more noisy interior, but never enough to bother me much.
Talk of warranty is all well and good, but it's a lot harder to get these sort of things fixed these days. They are still great where there's a complete failure of a component, but rubbish at sorting bits that are on their way out.
If it's not the car for you, sell it and move on. Test drive another Gen 2 997 if you feel it's just one bad example.

Car is fitted with p-zeros tyres, curious why the comment about Michelins though.
I am really hoping the OPC can sort the rattles out but as some seem to be temperature related I am not holding out much hope.

Think the Meteour Grey one is my old car. Was nothing wrong with it when I had it...I am really hoping the OPC can sort the rattles out but as some seem to be temperature related I am not holding out much hope.

I think you could be unlucky and I feel your pain. my previous car was gen 2 C4s cab which had numerous rattles which I could never get rid of. I finally had enough after taking the car back to OPC for the third time when the roof failed to open.
I part exchanged it at the OPC for a 997.2 4 GTS and I couldn't be happier, the car feels very tight with no rattles etc.
