Barclaycard Card processing fees

As per the title, the letter I've just received from Barclaycard Card Processing telling me the fees are changing from 1st March. If I'm reading this correctly the debit card fee is going to be 0.5% of the value of the transaction. Currently it's 18pence!

I've tried calling to clarify but they're shut today.

The average value of each transaction is approx £1000 so it's some hike!

Anyone else had a similar letter?

This is thanks to the European commission who have changed the way some cards are charged. Debit cards now carry a % charge to the processor, previously it was pence per transaction. Most processors are currently changing their charges to bring them in line. If you want to PM me, I'd be happy to go through it with you in a bit more detail and see if you can make any savings.
