Quick Self Assesment Q, self-calc owed - on account?
Discussion
OK so I have a payment due for the 14/15 year.
I've filed my return.
It now says no money owed, even though there is.
I have money on account for 14/15, which is noted in the final calculation, but not subtracted.
There is no 'final' payment option, just make a payment link that lets me add whatever value I want.
I've never done this before, so do I have to manually calculate the amount I owe from the final calculation for 14/15 minus on account payements for 14/15?
Or should this be automagically giving me a "you owe X for 14/15, pay now" kinda linky?
Thanks for any help/advice.

Well it seems something maybe is broken at their end.
Firstly on all my past returns I've completed them on the 31st and had them received by HMRC on the 31st.
On the File a return - Welcome screen, I've apparently had mine submitted and received by HMRC at 13:54 today, and I have my submission ref number.
But then the Self Assessment - Tax return options screen, it says submitted on the 31st, but no Received on date.
The ? says to contact the helpdesk.
They say it can take 72 hrs, and it always has done, but the website says that is only for new SA online users... but that isn't what I've experienced till this year.
The Self Assessment - At a glance screen says I have nothing to pay, and the top right part says Information as at 29 Jan 2016... so two days old.
And it now also seems that I have to calculate the amount owed manually.
I can see my "payments on account" and I can see the "SA account due" amounts. But the SA advisors seem to be incapable of saying explicitly if what I owe is one minus the other. Their online helper basically 'hung up the keyboard' on me rather than say explicitly if I was correct, despite having my details to hand.
It's like they don't want the liability of saying what I owe exactly, so it's up to me to get it wrong.
But they have all the data. It's a simple function, apparently, yet it's only inferred, not explicitly stated and calculated there and then as "you owe us X"
Indeed, the SA 'At a glance' page says I have *nothing to pay* so I'm not sure what is going on. Surely at the least it should say I owe my 14/15 balance (sans the on accounts payments reduction)? Ie, the larger amount?
So maybe if you don't file within 3 days of the 31st deadline, they won't explicitly tell you how much you owe? Is that how it's always been or a new thing? I've never seen it before.
Ah well, I hope everyone else is having more luck than me
I guess I'm just gonna have to take the plunge and pay what I think I owe, and hope it's not too much or too little
I doubt their website being crap is an excuse for me to not pay anything because it said I didn't have to
Cheers
