The PCM unit has packed up in my 2006 Cayenne Turbo S, had some prices to replace with apple play unit plus had a new unit priced up by Porsche.
Quick question if I purchased a used PCM unit is it just plug and play or would it need any coding, and is there any difference on the 955 model Cayenne PCM units? I know the early ones had cd based sat nav, and the 2005 MY cars moved to a dvd based system, but is there actually any difference in the main PCM unit?
Can anyone pull any part numbers from PET?

The pre-MY2005 units are PCM2.0, and not compatible with your PCM2.1 system. The PCM2.0 unit used CD maps in the head unit, and yours has a separate navigation DVD drive. Personally, I would ditch the PCM and go with one of these, which are virtually plug & play. http://www.dynavin.com/products/n6_pc.php About £550 I believe, if you get one from Germany or Holland.

Do you know if the actual PCM 2.1 head units differ though as there are several part numbers for it for the Cayenne? That would suggest they are different? I've been offered an Oct 2004 build unit from a UK car so that would be for a 2005 MY car so in theory it should work?
Would I just need to re-install the latest software from the update CD's or would it need re-coding by Porsche to work?
