Have started looking at the C220 cdi have seen a few nice 06 ones around £5k with about 70k on the clock, this seems a lot of car for the money.
I would be averaging around 80 miles per day so would love some advice on these as I know nothing about them but seem to have good reviews
are they economical (automatic one in particular)
any serious know faults
any issues with higher mileage ones ?
anything else ?
any advice / help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

We've got the c220 cdi Estate (2003) which we've had from 6 months old and 5k miles. It's now done 165k and performed incredibly well. On a decent 20+ mile journey we get 45-50 mpg which I think is fantastic for such a relatively heavy car. Heard lots of stuff about rust etc none of which seems to affected our car. Definitely would recommend it for a reasonable commute. Comfy too. Personally I like the heated seats in winter but that's probably just me getting old.
They're good cars reliable not a lot goes wrong with them at all at that price point take a look at the C270 to, they have a bit more poke & will match the 220's fuel economy, the last of the line ones came pretty much fully loaded also they don't have a DPF so that's one potential bill swerved both respond well to a decent re map.
