SAAB 9-5 Aero (HOT) 2.3t Estate
Discussion
Thought I would introduce my new to me car, picked up on Friday Night!
Behold - SAAB 9-5 Aero (HOT) 2.3t Estate (250bhp Model)

117,000 Miles on the clock and in Very good condition!
Lots of spec including:
- Black perforated leather interior
- Satellite Navigation System
- Front Memory Seats
- Front Heated Seats
- Rear Heated Seats
- Front Ventilated Seats
- Auto Wipers
- Cruise Control
- Tiptronic (flappy paddles)
- 6 Disc Upgraded Sound system with rear subwoofer
- Parking sensors
- Bi-Xenon Headlights
- 17" Aero Alloys
Drove it 90 miles home in the p**sing rain and wind, what an absolute pleasure to drive!
Only 2 Previous owners to me, including the Marketing Director of SAAB, hence the large spec!
Cost? Enough change from £2,000 to get me a full service, remap and maybe some new rubber!

Cracking motor, have a 9-5 Aero estate myself, manual 'box though.
For the remap, contact Saabnoob on UKSaabs, £80 for a stage 1 remap (275bhp and 420NM)
I've already contacted him! I'm getting him to send me a pre-mapped ECU for stage 1 as It's my daily so can't afford to have it off the road for too long! For the remap, contact Saabnoob on UKSaabs, £80 for a stage 1 remap (275bhp and 420NM)
Just out of curiosity have you had it dyno'd since Saabnoob did your stage 1?
I'm only curious as nobody seems to have dyno proof of his claimed gains!

Paid pretty much the same one year ago. Same colour but the face lifted version with the 5 spokes and manual gearbox. It is going in for its first M.O.T in about an hour! Not quite as kitted as yours but you get so much car for the money.
I'm very impressed with the AutoBox on this one, it's more responsive than i was expecting! Seems more responsive than my friends Auto 9-3 Aero.It does have a very good service history so probably accounts for the good condition of the Autobox
- UPDATE**
Some new SAAB badges front & rear as the old ones were badly faded
And got it cleaned today for the first time to see what it's like under all the dirt... turns out it's not so bad! a few little "dings" here and there but nothing major!

I'm curios to know, how much of a percievable difference did the re-map make. I only ask as when I get one I hope to do the same and I'd like to know if it is worth the money.
Re-map was done by "SaabNoob" on the Saab forums...made a Huge difference in terms of Torque, can't really say much for top end gains...as trying to find a long stretch of closed private road near me isn't easy. But 3rd gear acceleration is massively improved (1st and 2nd are restricted by the ECU & traction control isn't a fan of the added torque either) But in short...re-map it...money well spentFaxo said:
I have exactly the same car, but on a '52 plate
Bought mine with a complete engine rebuild, if you haven't any history of it being done, a sump drop is a must to clear the pick up
Thinking of moving mine on now
Had the sump dropped and cleaned by a specialist last week (was too lazy in this weather to it myself)Bought mine with a complete engine rebuild, if you haven't any history of it being done, a sump drop is a must to clear the pick up

So... Small Update.
Owned the car for exactly 1 month now.
I have put 1,500 Effortless miles on the car, with (touch wood), no major issues yet!
What have I done with it?
- I have replaced all the badges with Carbon Effect Saab ones (Wheels, Boot & Bonnet), despite losing the bonnet one en-route to a PHSS yesterday
- The car is mapped running 275bhp and 310 lb/ft
- Have installed a small boost gauge to keep an eye on boost pressure, as I did briefly have an issue with a failed valve causing the car to run a Max of 0.6 bar boost, this is now resolved and back up to running 1.2 bar!
- I have managed to pick up a spare set of identical wheels with decent Pirelli's all round for a bargain £60 all in! So I will be having those refurbished in the near future and get those on the car.
- The windows have now been tinted, 30% Tint to the rears, and 70% (the legal limit) on the front.
My "To Do" list:
- Front Mount intercooler
- 3" Downpipe
- Stainless Sports exhaust (preferably dual exit)
- Looking for an Aero Boot spoiler
- Remap to "Stage 3" (approx 300-310bhp) once the FMIC & Exhaust system are done.
- Big Brake kit (definitely needs some more help in the stopping department)
And finally here's a picture of how she sits now:

Car looked great yesterday, nice way to celebrate a month of ownership
(I was in the red GTI parked next to you)
Always preferred how the estate version looks compared to the saloon.
Sounds like you got some great plans for it!
Thanks, a few scratches to tidy up, get the refurbished wheels on and hopefully should be very tidy for it's age!

I was eyeing this up at the SS at Bruntingthorpe. Very nice
It's a shame my OH can't get insured on an estate yet otherwise I'd have one of them too!
Mine was the Black saloon btw,
I'm having the clutch, slave cylinder and crank seal done this week. After that I'll be looking at stage 1.. Or maybe 3!
