My parents had a white Visa GTI back when I was a kid. Was a pretty cool car. They owned it from new. sold it in '96 I think for a few hundred quid. Probably won't be on the road now as it had some pretty bad rust spots even back then.

I think it was largely based on the 205GTI. I think it had the same 1600 engine. Last time I checked there was only 1 on the road in the UK.

My folks had a couple of (non-GTI!) Visas in the 80s. In fact I have a scar above my eye from being in a crash in one when I was a nipper

The Visa massively predated the 205, so if anything it was the other way round - although they didn't share a platform, many bits were shared. The later Visa GTi 115ch did have the same spec of XU as the 205GTi, the earlier Visas were a bit down on power. Better rear suspension, though.

I had one of the above, it was supposedly a civilised version of the Visa Trophee. Good fun though rather thirsty.
