Those alien ba***ds!!! 20 years of Duke Nukem 3D
Discussion
Wow. Twenty years since the release of Duke Nukem 3D.
I remember being amazed by the original version and had nearly all the add on expansions and scoured the Internet for more playable maps.
Oh the joys of setting up your sound card. 220 5 1 ring a bell with anyone?

First shared house at uni after first year in halls. A cheap coax cable snaked it's way in and out of every bedroom so we could play multi player duke nukem (and descent)
Best bit was the laser triggered grenade which you could set while falling. You could drop down a lift shaft and set it on the way down. The next person down would be blown up.
Haven't played a first person shooter since.

Port 220 Irq 5 Dma 1. Thank heavens we don't have to fiddle about with these things any more.
I fondly remember playing this at Uni on the campus PC labs after most people had buggered off for the day. The IT tech was a a mate so just let us get on with it and usually joined in once his shift was finished. Was my first introduction to network gaming and over a decent speed LAN too. It would be a number of years before I was able to replicate the experience in my own home. The trip mines were great fun and I can't tell you the number of times I was shot while "playing" with the strippers.
