Steering rack testing
Discussion
I've just finished rebuilding my spare steering rack ready to get it into my car. Pretty simple job really inner seal was as much of a b
d as previously mentioned from others.
Obviously I only want to do this once so thinking of ways I can bench test it prior to installing into my car.
First thought was buying a saxo electric pump and running it direct off a battery so I can pressurise the rack seeing as this is a fix on some cerbs with the power steering failure.
Just wondering on any other thoughts.
If any one is to do there rack then I have the correct 60mm socket and 45mm tap to clean the threads out.

I would be interested to hear about adjusting the play. Mine has excessive play around the centre position, I have adjusted the lock-nut adjuster as tight as i can without it becoming notchy at greater lock. It would have been great if the company which rebuilt my rack had been as careful as you.
That's just what my rack does now. Well the one in the car. Check all your uj's as I had a loose one but bar that it will either be wear in the pinion or the rack bar itself which according to the Tvr parts site is no longer available but it's the same bar in the Tuscan tamora etc.
I have a tamora rack which I've rebuilt no play in it but wanted to make sure prior to installing it that it wouldn't need removing it.
Thus wanting to test it.
Once I've got the old one out in going to strip that and find out the extent of the wear and to what part.
