Fitbit Zip - measure runs?

Can this little device do this? I am not sure from all the reviews. I don't want to carry my phone with me when I run and this seems ideal but info online is confusing. Not bothered about measuring anything else.

This can only count steps, so it wouldn't measure a run with any sort of accuracy.

The only way you will do that is via a device with GPS - so spend more on a GPS watch or use your phone.

To me their seems to be a gap in the market for a simple mp3 player with gps.

Personally I just use a map when I run outdoors, I generally go the same route. My route is a foot path and has sign posts marking distance as well.
