Le Mans...... And Beyond!
Discussion
Chaps,
Heading off to Le mans again this year but was thinking about making the return trip a little more interesting.
Anyone any suggestions for a route that involves nice places to stay, ending up in say, Monaco or some other european destination with the usual mix of good food, stunning views and somewhere safe to park the Aston Martin over night?
All suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance,
L.D

Sounds like a fine plan to me...
I would recommend heading east to Macon, the Best Western Europe Anglaterre hotel is basic, but has a nice little car park tucked away behind in a courtyard, lots of decent food and drink within walking distance. You could then skirt past Lyon, head down to Grenoble, pick up the N85 down towards Gap, then pick up the Route Napolean via the D900b / D900, into Grasse then on to Monaco - depending on stamina, you may want to overnight on-route. For an easier drive back, I've just used the autoroutes from Monaco up to Champagne (recommend staying in one of the little villages surround Epernay rather than Reims), it's then an easy amble back to Calais.
