Any Electronical people?

I know electronical is not a real world.

I have a very old, but knackered amp and the only component I can see which has failed is a transistor with the marking B507 E0H:



but google isn't revealing any information about it and I'm a bit lost as to where to ask.

Maplin say they can get me the modern equivalent if I can get the data sheet for this one, but anyone know where I can get that?

Is this an output transistor? If so, there may be an identical transistor on the other output.

there is, in total there is 4 transistors attached to that heatsink, two green and two black.

The two green ones have the same code, B507 E0H.

Can you get a straight on pic of each side the working one, then someone might pick up on a manufacturers logo/identifying mark on it.

Probably a 2SB507. You'll still struggle to find it in a data book though...

1970's tech, older than you are...

Edit: the transistors are a 'complementary pair: one is NPN, the other PNP. I forget which is which (they used the colour coding back then but not any more) but you can figure it out with a multimeter on diode check range.
Once you've identified the polarity, you could hypothesise it's ratings and try a few modern types.

Or you can hang on till I find my TITS in the loft and I'll see if it's listed...

Finding these bloody things is a big headache for me also, so many unknown manufactures these days! A big thanks to ALL who posted links!

Hey!........I remember scraping the paint from a glass OC71 to make a phototransistor!!!

The manufacturers soon changed that when they found out, and "encapsulated" them to prevent you from doing it, whilst charging twice as much for their:........OC71P ....phototransistor!!!

There was so much concern at one time that unlike valves, transistors would last forever (thus once everyone had a tranny radio, no more would sell) that several manufacturers painted one lead of every transistor with corrosive paint, so that after x period, the lead would corrode away and the set would die.

Little did they anticipate the fickle public and their change from 'buy once, keep for life' to 'buy now, throw away tomorrow'...
