Psssttt....... Nitrons...... Don't tell the wife!
Discussion
Well chaps it really is the slippery slope now - four weeks today and I'll be covered in dribble and poo. But less about my kinky habits, and on to more sensible questions....
With the impending self-destruction of my bank account, the total withdrawal of all favours from SWMBO, and generally being reduced to gibbering wreck by the utter demise of any lingering thoughts of independance, I felt it was time to open the coffers one last time and splash out on my mistress.
....... hello...... Nitrons......
So are they really worth it? The car is running on standard shocks at the mo. One recently-promoted-to-main dealer in Worcs commented that they were a waste of money, whereas others swear by them as the way to make a Cerb the beast they always should have been.
What sort of total cost am I looking at, and what benefits?
While I'd love to get the Speed12 conversion done, as a pal commented the other day - she'll notice the lights, but she'll never see the Nitrons!

If you dont blast her around like a maniac, dont waste your money on shocks till the current ones give up the ghost..
BUT they do make a HUGE difference, IF, and this is a BIG IF, they are set-up properly, in my experience and centuries of knowledge gathered from all four corners of the galaxy, I would say, JOOSPEED is the GOD of Nitron configuration... if you're gonna go down this route, you GO TO HIM... anywhere else and you're, like your dealer says, wasting your money!
(and no, I dont get commission!)
The Speed 12 light conversion.... a great idea! I think if you give Carbon Al a ring, he can sort you out with a good deal... a better price than the other outfits doing the conversions...

Go for it. The nitrons have the effect of making it seem less like a Kit car. It doesn't matter if you arn't a driving king. There have been quite a few Cerbs wrecked recently with what their owners report as sliding on normal roads or suddenly biting.
My car on the edge used to thruppenny bit round corners, now it seems a lot more roadworthy, and all this from having nitrons.

tell you what: give me the money, ill fit 'em to my car, and ill let you know what theyre like and whether they were worth (your) money. plus, the wife will NEVER guess. Its the perfect crime. Which makes it worth every penny. all cheques to be made out to cash.
bet mine will poo and dribble more than yours. is it bad form to race babies? im hoping not as i have some SERIOUS money to recoup from the last few weeks 'purchases'. children in need? just wait, my kid will be the mascot next year, not that bloody 'ooo, ive hurt my paw, pity me pity me' bear.

Uggg????????
I have Nitrons on the back and AVOs on the front, took a long time to set up but is fantastic now. Front stiff, back more grippy, sets up well for corners and braking.
Car is mainly track use & TVR Speed Challenge so the expense is certainly worth it.
Recommendation yes, but get them set up by a pro, or if you want to play get all the right tools and do it yourself, final corner weighting can be done by the normal suspects or at some of the track days such as Goldtrack.
You may also need to work out what spring rating is best for your driving purposes, been a few threads on this in the past few months.
