I'm about to get the stone chips sorted with a front end respray. I don't know much (anything) about paintwork - so wondered if there is anything I should consider prior to finding myself a good paint shop?

Approx cost?
Stone guard films - are they worthwhile?
Any Midlands located paint shops recommended?

Thanks for anything.

Hi Moto,

I am in the process of having my Tam's front resprayed due to stone chips. I am using Option 1 Composite repair specialists near Bromsgrove. They even send me daily pics of the progress;

Had mine done through RT Racing Sheffield, good job, and I think about £800 inc VAT.(was about year ago)

I'll second the Central TVR recommendation. Excellent work, top guys - did a lot of extra fibreglass work on mine to remove hairline cracks for a very reasonable amount.

Moto,
It depends on the colour of the car. As you haven't got a picture ion your profile its hard to say.
Ours is a flip paint and it can't be matched so we can't have a front end only. The paint is expensive so £4k for a full respray.

Be certain that the Air filter and Rad are correctly masked. The dealer I got my Griff from Tarted up the front end managed to block up the filter and coat the bottom of the Rad.

Thanks all for the tips.

FFG, your comment on matching the paint is a concern for me as it's a late (Jan 2002)Rosso Pearl and some people suggest difficult to match. Is this what you mean by "flip" paint or is that something else?
