Is it possible to make a PC DVD player or RW multi-region as at is a home player.If so how?

Hope Im allowed to ask this question.:

Yes, but you may need to flash the firmware for your drive.

What make/model is it?

One came fitted to Dell PC HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-44808

New one is Sony DVD RW DRU700A Dual layer

I use both at same time, as you can imagine.

Or copy the DVD using DVD Shrink 3.2 which will remove all the region coding anyway....Either way brilliant free softare. Just google it.

Got lastest DVD Shrink, comes up disc wrong region for DVD reader.Will not do what I want.

Most drives have a pre-determined number of region changes, <5 IIRC, after which, the drive is locked to the last region change.

As stated above you need to re-flash the firmware on the drive to make it RPC1 region free and disable the change counter.

Only problem is the drive makers don't release region free firmware as a rule so you need to go the hacked route.

Do a search on google for 'Dangerous Brothers' they do RPC1 firware for most drives.

Your drive may not have been hacked yet.

Another point to note is that the software you use to watch the DVD film must also be region free as there is normally a region code lock on it too !!!
