Water in door switch...

There appears to be some water in the door switch under the mirror of my car. The effect is that it typically won't open if the car has stood for a while, but is fine if it has been running and is warm.

I'm reasonably confident it is water because it can be heard when pressing the switch, and the rubber became solid when it froze recently!

I've now got a copy of 'the bible' and have seen the instructions for removing the mirror. If I do this, will I be able to drain off any moisture to stop this happening?

Dont have door switches in mine, but I converted to the later VW mirrors. IIRC there is a very small drain hole between the 'black' rim and the mirror back which may have been over painted. Dont know how the switch would drain tho. With the later mirrors/switches being common on other models you may get better response by posting in the General TVR forum.

Don't forget - every now and then (technical term )give the door button a good squirt of WD - I just spray behind the mirror and wipe off the excess er, spillage - some of it must hit the target.
