Hi,

Having finally joined the M power club I'm looking for a good independent around the South East. North Hampshire/Surrey Berkshire area. Better to get names now before I need them when something breaks. Surprised there isn't a sticky for M power indy's.

Thanks All

These people were recommended to me:

http://www.twgautomotive.co.uk/

They are in Frimley

I've not used them yet - just been along to check costs and lead times on a service, as I have one due soon.
They are very busy and the setup looks professional.

Used these guys for years. They are very good and know their stuff. The main problem is getting a booking, you need to book in advance.

+1 for Richard, I know him from his time working for BMW UK. I have been very pleased with his work on my M3, I only don't use him these days as getting the car over to him in Haslemere is a bit of a pain for me, based in Reading. Friendly, trustworthy and good value - I definitely recommend.

Well a bit thank you to all of you out there in Pistonhead land.

I had a snag with my M6 and Will and TWG couldn't have been more helpful.

Turns out the previous owner had the fuel pump and filter replaced at a well known BMW dealership in a well known Surrey university town. (Don't know if I can name and shame) This work was done less than 1000 miles before I had a problem with fuel level indication and excessive tank vacuum, as I have the invoice.

Turns out their working practice are not the cleanest and Will discovered a number of shredded rubber glove pieces in the tank, a blanking cap from the new pump. Add to that the fitting into the new pump had be graunched up so tight that it broke, the connecting lines across the tank had not been fastened to the filter so were hanging on and the fuel sender had been forced on incorrectly. Mustn't forget the dirt from where they hadn't vacuumed before opening the tank.

Pics attached.

Speaking to said well known main dealer their considered response was to retreat behind law (Our contract was with previous owner) and to then claim it can't have been them as when you change the pump it is removed from above and you never go into the tank. When ask why they didn't spot it they said the hole is too small to see.

No I don't want to force my opinion on anyone but I would say the balance of probability is said main dealer are guilty a hell.

Fortunately Will and TWG have cleaned out the tank and corrected all the problems and, surprise surprise, no more problems. Hats off to Will for the work, the decent approach, excellent customer service and taking the time to take the pictures and bag up some debris. If you are looking for a BMW independent in Camberley/Farnborough/Frimley area I can't recommend them highly enough.

As above, TWG. Best garage in the area and I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

I have used TWG with the Z4M and found them good. I just had an interim oil change completed, so no major work.

I usually use Iridium Engineering and i think they are excellent, but based between Winchester and Southampton so maybe a bit to far. Worth the travel IMHO
