Who knows old Marshalls?

Old as in really old. Coffin-logo style, split front, JTM45. From around 1963. Looks like this one:



I've been approached by someone who's selling up, and has had it for 30 years. (So that's long before the scumbags at Music Ground started doing their faking thing.) Some details are a bit odd, but it is from an era when Marshall was making it up as they went along. Have to do due diligence on that...

Anyone here have an idea about what the going rate is for one of these? Assuming it's original.

One of Eric Clapton's JTM45s - just the bare chassis - sold for £18,000 in 2011.

I think that's a bit optimistic. The one in the OP is a rare "coffin badge" version, the last one I saw sold went for just over £7000.

Thanks chaps, those are useful benchmarks. The seller is after considerably more than either - Trainwreck Express-type figures.

The guy called me up out of the blue (I have a sort-of-related business). I've already got a '67 plexi JMP and a reissue JTM45 for playing, so this one wouldn't get played much.

My mate has a '65, his band played at a club in the late seventies and it was under the stage, he asked the club manager about it and the manager said to take it, as he was sick of tripping over it.
