I am getting married in May and am looking at various 3 piece suit options. After doing some research on the forums I think I will be booking an appointment with Gresham Blake in the next couple of weeks as they come highly recommended.

However, I was in Marks and Spencer Bluewater last night and noticed their tailoring section, has anyone used them? I couldn't find many first hand reviews or feedback and was wondering if it is worth considering?

Thanks

Are you an odd shape?

If not it may be worth trying suits in styles / colours you like from various brands and see how they fit.

Could save a wedge.

I got my wedding suit from Burton. Was a great fit and I think under £100.

The problem I have is that my arms are generally too big (from working out) for suit jackets that are my size. If I go a size larger the jacket is too big especially around the waist.

A friend of mine went to Hugo Boss, and bought an off the peg suit for his wedding day, but then had it altered by their in-house tailor. Only 2 or 3 hundred pounds all in,and he now has a "bespoke" suit smile

If considering Gresham Blake in Brighton, also try Mark at Hugo Morris. I've had two suits so far from him and am very impressed with both of them.

My thread has arrived !
I bought made to measure suits from Gresham Blake for both myself and my best man when I married in 2003. Shirts as well.
Fantastic experience and I still wear the suit, hasn't dated and still looks good. I gave him material from the bridesmaids dresses and he made ties for us both as well.
If anything buy an extra pair of trousers.
Don't think twice I cannot recommend highly enough.

Made to measure, not bespoke.

Bespoke is the ultimate and is beyond the means of ordinary folk like me.

Thanks for the tip, much appreciated!

Did you go to the London or Brighton shop?

I will be going to the London shop, does anyone have any recommendation on which person to deal with? Looks like Guy Daglish is the person that in on Saturdays.

I have visions of the bridesmaids standing in the church with their arse cheeks showing through the nice neat holes you cut to take material evil

Brighton shop for me as I am in Sussex.
2003 so early days, I had Gresham measure me for the suit and his wife Fal measured me for the shirt. I am guessing that it wouldn't happen today.
I'd love another suit to be honest but the cost has risen and risen over the years, a jacket though is looking very tempting.

Ha Ha - would have been entertaining.
Just ordered extra material as the bridesmaids dresses were made for them and Gresham made ties. 6 all told, the ushers got ties but not suits.

Unless this was a good while back he's telling you porkies. Boss don't sell a suit for less than £500

Depends. I was getting quotes of £1000 plus in Central Manchester, but a local tailor is doing me for £600 including 2nd pair of trousers. Ties for me and my son (Page boy) from the bridesmaids material too.

The problem with buying off the peg is that most people have no idea how a suit should actually fit and if they found one that fitted like a proper bespoke suit by sheer fluke would probably think it was far too tight.

Gresham Blake is a great suggestion for an altered off the peg great company

To the poster talking Hugo Boss and some alterations making it a bespoke suit... I suggest you look up what a bespoke actually means.
