Anyone had theirs knicked?

Hi There,
About to make the jump to Griffdom. Apart from choosing the right one, my latest concern is getting it knicked or bits robbed.
I live in south london and will have to park it on the street. Does anyone else here have to do this? Do you think I am nuts to even try and get away with it, is there anything I can do to try and reduce the chances of theft?

I live in what some would describe as one of the worst parts of west london. Hayes is but a stones throw away and the local estates are hardly what you would call upper class.
Mine has been parked on the street or exposed on my drive (amounts to the same thing) for a year and has acquired one scratch where someone with a bag walked past (too light to be malicious and could easily have happened anywhere).
On the other hand none of the insurance companies that gave me a "reasonable" quote would touch it unless it was fitted with a tracking device.
Previous cars have been "opened" and one previous car (Integra Type-R) stolen (thankfully recovered very quickly). No damage though at any time.
Looking around though, there are a number of very nice cars in the area (ranging from Rollers, through TVRs to Ultimas) and none of them recieve much attention. The scrotes seem more interested in hot hatches (easy to steal) and not so hot hatches (ever watched a 10mph car chase before?).

Oddly enough, the insurance company think the same - it's more expensive to insure the Impreza and the security requirements are higher.
After all, what use is a Griffith as a getaway car for a bank job
It seems Joy riders tend to be three or four up and so don't favour 2 seaters. Dodgy Griffs are hard to shift on the second hand market. Main concerns then are the car being targeted for parts, and vandalism.
Get a decent alarm, make sure you use it, and don't upset the neighbours - good luck and enjoy it!
There are loads of TVR's in & around South London, many of them are parked on the street overnight & I dont know of any that have been nicked. There has been the occasional bit of vandalism but nothing too major.
The roof cover idea is worth doing.
