Why not start a campaign to prove this.

How, well the £60 fine means little to most people its just the 3points that do.

So What do we need to do to convice the authoritys to prove that it has nothing to do with the money and drop the fine.

Id love to see how quick the laser/radar guns would be handed out when there was no cash incentive

And to further prove it's all about cash, in my area they do the exact opposite of what you suggest - you pay extra to go on one of these speed awareness courses, and don't get any points.

Hence it's a self expanding bureaucracy ; it will expand staffing and expenditure in parallel with the Scamera incomes.

Yep, it's a legalised pyramid scheme. In a couple of years we'll all be banned, or driving so slowly that the whole house of cards will come crashing down.

Anyone think of any uses for a second hand speed camera?

If each one came with a free jar of Vaseline I could get rid of as many as you want.

Suggest more points or harsher sentences, but no fines. Not that I would welcome that, but money has to be taken out of the equation if it is about road safety and not money.

Likewise, suggest paying really big huge fines, but no points.

I bet they would favour the latter rather than the former.

I'm not so convinced it is all about revenue. £60 is nothing compared to 3 points towards losing your license. However, I will agree that it's nothing to do with safety (the change in fatality rate proves that).

I reckon it's part of a policy to get us all off the roads. Some believe this is a good thing because of environmental reasons. However, why should we be so screwed when a certain national president (no names), with a populous 4 x in number, whom travel much greater distances, who have the most uneconomical cars in the world and have the lowest petrol prices, simply doesn’t give a ?
