LED dipping H/L bulbs

just fitted set of dipping led headlight bulbs the difference is night and day they vary from £32 to £50ish they are a simple plug and play although you have to take the retaining wire off and refit it to get the bulb in Cheers Keith

Just make sure that you get the aim checked and adjusted correctly.

checked by dealer and did not need any correction , didn't actually read that post got the idea from my mate who fitted them to his Skoda. His was also ok for direction didn't realise there was a problem as the bulb will only fit one way as the standard cheers Keith

Was the dealer selling the bulbs?

They do need correction. The seller is just trying to make the process of selling easier for himself

Hi Keith,

They do only fit one way but at the moment the LED chips can't be exactly aligned with where the filaments would be on a "proper" H4 bulb due to the LED chips needing to be mounted to a pretty hefty aluminium assembly to carry away the heat. Because of this the lenses are actually incorrectly focused for the LED chips and - ultimately - *CANNOT* produce the correct beam pattern. At best you'll have an incorrectly shaped pattern - at worst something that will dazzle oncoming drivers.

I do find it very difficult to believe that there really are no adjustments to be made to keep the alignment "legit" (even if their fitment isn't) as both Dave (ChimpOnGas) and I found that dipped beam went too high and dazzled other drivers and that full beam went into "searchlight" mode when they were simply swapped in with no adjustment.

Sorry didn't make myself clear when I said dealer I meant tvr dealer not bulb seller. The bulbs were fitted by my local tvr garage who set the headlights at the same time they were replacing the reflectors. I'm luckily not as stupid as I look

While not 100% perfect in every single respect and baring in mind you absolutely must adjust your headlights down a bit after fitting them, I would say these LED bulb replacement units offer far and away the best improvement to Chimaera night driving visibility for the outlay.

At £50 or so for a good set you really can't go far wrong, but I must stress again people absolutely must adjust their headlights down after fitting them. In doing say you may find yourself looking to get a bit more reach from your dip beams.

Having made the switch some time ago I've concluded the LED dips are actually still way better than on even the best incandescent bulbs, it's just you get a bit of a shock when flipping from the amazingly bright main beams to the dips that you've had to set a little low so you don't dazzle oncoming traffic.

I've just fitted a set of PIAA LP270 driving lights which I hope will complete the picture by extending the reach of light just enough, while still being respectful to other road users.
