Any recommendations for a moderately bulk purchase of Bratwurst (preferably pre-cooked)? Presume Aldi and Lidl are good options, but need to be sure I can get enough (maybe 100).

Herman Ze German sell them for home use in their shops. They dont seem to be in their online store though but im sure if you contact them they can mail order them. They are some of the best German sausages ive had in the UK

You jest, but in fact www.sausageman.co.uk delivers to an upscale eatery near me. Very tasty they are too.

Make sure you get some of that good sweet mustard.

That was a serious suggestion, I pass one of their vans on the way to work most mornings.

I think Costco have stopped doing them. Sausage Man is the main supplier across the UK to xmas markets etc and the product is fantastic. I actually had a spare full pallet of them which I gave to a food bank last week!

Never seen that in my life!

Bratwursts: braise in beer, grill on the BBQ. THE BEST!

Tesco do some really nice Bratwurst - six for about £1.80. Usually to be found in and around the precooked meet.

They are almost always precooked so that they aren't raw meat and will last longer. I believe they boil them - that's why they look kinda grey in the packet. But you still have to grill them before they are properly edible!

Most German sausages are par cooked by being boiled before sale. Doesn't mean you can eat them straight out the pocket but it does mean you never get raw centres

Tesco's are doing a polish hotdog with 93% meat content just as an aside. I didn't even know you could fit that much pork in a hot dog, thought they exploded after 75% because of Herta's post WW2 experimentations ......
