Car passed mot in Oct but it was noted that my front shock ( gas gold pro) was leaking and one of the rear ones is on it's way out too. Going to get a new set but what else is it worth replacing whilst they are off..new bolts and bushes ( which ones do I need)?

Thanks

Regarding the dampers Gaz can refurbish what you have so its worth contacting them directly for advice, i had mine serviced recently for £30 a corner.

I had this done a few years ago, also when mine started leaking. I don't recall the cost then, but it included shipping so a good bargain.

Is it really such a bargain? I would be disappointed that they had failed in the first place, let alone having to pay extra to bring them back to shape, unless of course they have done some serious work or more than 10 years old

Send them to GAZ them selves 3 days and they were back on the car

Now that's a very good point,,,, it's all about milage,, if the shocks havnt covered many thousands of miles then surely the shock is at fault ?
I have a nice set of Gaz gold Pro's that have failed within a few years,, I put it down to my mean driving thumbup haha
Should give Gaz a call as they are good to deal with.

I've gone onto some Protech twin adjust shocks with soft springs, them there shocks are working their socks off but are very agreeable so far,, I got them from Joolz of kits and Classics fame and I'm unable to fault them so far,, both adjuster knobs are relatively easy to rotate, Black for bump Red for rebound, other than going a tad to soft on the spring rates I've achieved a relatively soft car that doesn't roll as the bump is quite high but is subtle over bumps and turning tight corners around town the car is more compliant, it's more like a modern sportscar but knock the knobs up a few clicks and she's really responsive on the steering etc, tight and firm, the damping is progressive and I can feel the difference in on or two clicks as the characteristics change,

I've found a setting that's working great through the winter months and can't wait until it's warmer to play with the rebound knob more, it's just interesting feeling the odd changes that occur,, I've effectively got a soft spring with a high ish bunp stop setting to offset the Spring a tad, but it absorbs the bump through the Spring and not through me,, then a similar if not a click higher rebound setting,, so even though I'm soft the car doesn't sit up off the shocks after a compression at speed say,,,
Nodding dog, gone, ain't thought about that in ages, cars really quiet, and I don't flinch when going over a sudden road fault!
The electrics take less shaking and I'm well chuffed, if I wanted to do a track day it would be pushing the shocks to the limit and it would still be a wet setting, need firmer springs for that but as I use the car as a daily as much as possible I'm compromising ultimate handling for the better good of all the other components including the drivers fillings,,, haha

It's not for everybody and I'd just decide what the cars used for and match the shocks to your needs,, whatever make they happen to be thumbup
