Hi guys,

Now that I have done most of the urgent 'to do' jobs, I want to generally tidy the car up. It has been well looked after, but I would like to improve the condition a bit. The engine bay needs a lot of tidying, I have been looking at a silicon hose set for starters, as as lot of the existing hoses are starting to wear pretty badly, any pis anyone? Also I want to clean the engine and bay...... lots of products on the market for it, whats the best way? I am not looking for concours, just something to be proud of! as always, any help is definetely appreciated!

You need to speak to Mike Smith as his engine bay is the cleanest I've ever seen - look, he even gives it a steam clear whilst on the move...

Seriously, hope whatever the problem was it was sorted as that's one tidy S. Don't dare look under my bonnet...

somebody must have been faster round the track than he was to blow that much steam!

Sorry Mike, but I have seen the clips of you on the track, I bet you hate to lose!

I use Autoglym Engine & Machine Cleaner. The trick is to only use it when the engine is stone cold to prevent any water getting into the electrics. When it's done you spray on their Vinyl & Rubber Care and leave it to form a shiny surface. Quick and easy to use with maximum effect for minimum elbow grease.

Errr.... it cant be the cleanest you have seen. you were at the S meet last year surely and saw Mr Sheens engine now thats clean, mine just looks it as I have the S/S braiding!!!

Yes thought someone would have a pic of this, but thought it would be Bridgedav?? The car is absolutely fine, forgot to check the water level before we left (and the past few months ) so with the lets say with the 'Spirited' driving over with the other Tivs it overheated a little. I put some water in and no problems, funny that....!

Great day though and lots af great cars.

Back on topic, as for the engine bay I use Tetracleans engine cleaner, just spray it on and wash off, simple. Mr Sheens has never been dirty so has never needed a cleaner....just a polish?

That's not strictly true, of all the times I went last year (that’s not much), I got caught out in the rain at least 60% of the time!

.......anyway back to the thread.

I use metal polish "Autosol" on the rocker covers and on the exhaust system. Normal car wax on the chassis

Took me a good few hours to get it back up to scratch again, on axle stands, wheels off the norm!
