I wasn't aware Ultimas were appreciating in value like the old classics until I noticed my old Can-Am now up for sale at nearly 10k more than I paid and sold it for wow better start looking for another GTR before they become unaffordable.
Had some good times with that car Andy did a fantastic build but £45k now, really ?

What's the point of your post Russ? There are loads of cars for sale that are arguably overpriced? If you were selling a car, you wouldn't be happy with a post like this would you?

I think they are appreciating - I've had 2 offers on mine without it being for sale, only my emotional attachment has stopped me selling - definately a case if my heart ruling my head boxedin

Go look at the appreciation of 993s! Its totally within the realms of possibility folk are realising the performance bargain potential of these as the factory does more to promote the evo....

I think the inclusion of the Ultima in video games like Forza is doing a lot for recognition of the cars by a wider (younger) audience too.

When I got a set of wheels refurbed a while ago, the kids working at the place knew exactly what an Ultima was, and loved the fact they had wheels from one in the shop, all thanks to Forza - this can't be a bad thing.

Funny tho, if it sells for that then you sold it cheap. Folk keep saying things are worth what someone will pay for them. The reality is that they are worth what someone will sell them for.

Crikey, if I got upset because I had under-priced some cars I had sold just so that I could move on to something else then there would be real tears everywhere rather than crocodile ones. Throw in a bit of unexpected appreciation and there might even be a tantrum or two.

S1 Exige, Type 72 Exige S, 996 Turbo S, Caterham R300, Evo VI TME, Turbo Esprit, Esprit GT3.. and lets not start on F355's or, heaven forbid, things that fly! I guess I could buy a new Evo and run it or a few years on the price difference between what I sold these for and what they are now worth. But, am I bitter? Nope.

ps.. if someone offered me £10k over what I paid for my GTR I wouldn't even consider it

pps.. Hope you are enjoying the Atom smile

Same! Although probably because I've sunk more than that into it in parts alone...!!

Not upset in the least at the price it is up for sale at, just a little surprised, I was perfectly happy with the price I got at the time ( same as I paid ) about 8 years ago, just surprised at a 10k hike in 2016, as my original post about appreciation
And yes the Atom is awesome, defiantly the way to go after an Ultima wink

That's one advantage of this type of car. It is a bit like Trigger's Broom and the value is based on whatever you end up with rather than what you start off with.

I'd love an Atom but for one thing. I cannot stand the noise they make, (supercharged ones) the whining of the supercharger would do my head in.
Now the v8 one.....smile

Well as someone who's going through a SBC to LS3 conversion, I for one, would be very happy to see the cars appreciate in value (whilst not expecting to get ALL my cash back SOME would be nice 😀).

In reality I think that well executed cars SHOULD rise in value given the price involved in building a new Evo. The issue will be finding a 'well executed' car as any price inflation will tend to drag 'everything' up,

There's definitely some Forza-related recognition going on. Last week, I let my best friend (who helped me throughout the project) take the GTR to pick up his son at school. As all the six and seven year old kids crowded around the car, one little boy asked "Whose Ultima is this?" That puts him ahead of most 50 year old supercar owners!

Alas, there aren't that many 6/7 year olds who can afford one wink

Can always pressurise the parents though I guess!
