We are looking to go to the Oxo tower brasserie when next in London. Has anybody been? If so, was it any good?

i'll neatly side step the obvious joke that, one post in, has already been done!

yea i've been, it was quite nice. Nice view. Not amazing, but pretty good.

View's great. Atmosphere's good. Food's nothing to write home about but won't spoil the evening either. And if you take someone who's not been before, you'll have a good night (just, JUST avoiding the joke smile).

Had lunch there a couple of times (not been for 3-4 years though) and echo the above comments. Nice enough to return but nothing over and above lots of other places. Views are great though

Food did spoil the evening in my case. Everything was cold...apart from the sorbet! Useless food, useless service, very uncomfortable chairs, but a great view.

Take her up the Shard instead of the Oxo Towersmile

AQUA in the Shard is very nice.

if you take her up the oxo tower you do run the risk of doing a shard not long after.

Once you've taken her up there, you'll probably both realise that your regular venue is your first choice and the tower best left for birthdays and anniversaries.

lovely building and view

you pay for it in the food, which is good but nothing extraordinary

but as long as you understand these conditions it is a very pleasant experience, but wait for a fine clear day

Echoing what most other say, it's good without being brilliant. The food isn't ludicrously expensive, but you can get much better for the same price without a view.

Personally, I'd give Sushi Samba a go if you want to combine decent food and views.

Yes been and the terrace bar area is great for superb views while drinking something sophisticated.

However it isn't trendy anymore (if you're worried about that sort of thing) and the food is average. This wouldn't be so bad if the staff didn't still think that they were working at "the" place to be. Add to that the tables near the kitchen are dire.

It isn't bad and on a nice summer evening it is hard to beat the terrace but you could find better.
