Im just contemplating replacing the ageing original dampers and springs on my car.
Ive seen the Nitrons, and single adj protechs, and know about the Gaz option.
Are there any other makes that I should be looking at...
Has anybody fitted a set of double adj protechs to their cerb.
I know there available for the Chimaera. But as yet havnt heard of them on the Cerb.
I should mention my car will not be going on track days, BUT I do like the idea of having the double adjustability, so I can set the car up just to my liking...

If my Cerb needed new dampers I'd go for an Eibach/Bilstein combination available from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Blackdown-Automotive the TVR suspension expert when the factory closed.

Fitted a new set to the Griff a few years ago and still perfect for road and occasional track use.

Speak with Julian at kits and classics. He has been developing kits for cerbera's for track and road for years.
It's really a budget thing.
Generally the more you spend the better you get eg
Gaz - protech - nitron - ohlins
Then of course there is fitting and set up.
An expensive damper poorly set up will be no good.
Don't bother with corner weghting or the expensive companies that will take your money to do a full geo and give you a car with the wrong cambers etc

Im in the same boat.
I'm either going for Nitrons or double adjustable Protechs.
Does anybody know if joolz fits them and does the setup as well?

yes

Frankly, unless you are really set on the adjustability feature (aside from ride height), I feel the lower end aftermarket kits are a tough sell against the latest-spec OEM Bilstein/Eibach units - high quality monotubes as per the better Porsches, AMGs et al, set up under Ben Lang's auspices with a very good Bilstein road test engineer who went over to the UK for that purpose, back when NS was still throwing money at the company. To get a really significant improvement on those you'd have to look at the top tier level, i.e. Ohlins/Intrax, IMO smile

I'm going to watch this with interest as my car could do with a suspension refresh at this stage.

Some of the old AVO shocks have been on it since I bought it 10 years ago and I've no idea how long they were on it for before that so it's fair to assume they're fairly tired now

I'm also ready for some new shocks and springs but am torn between replacing them with new stock ones or Gaz Golds. The Gaz shocks look a bargain being at least a couple hundred quid cheaper than stock items, but there seems to be a split on what people think about them. My car doesn't really do much more than a Sun morning run so doesn't need anything special. Would love to hear opinions on Gaz Golds on a Cerbera.

Harry.... I fitted Gaz Golds (on 17" wheels) to my dads Cerb after the originals had leaked. After having them set by Power (fast road/track) they were fantastic, he has always said the car drives better than he ever had it. When getting my own Cerb I would have done the same however it already had Nitrons (lucky me) and he and I just think they are amazing. What I will be doing however is changing the springs from current Suplex ones to Eibachs. I hear that combo is fantastic. The top end Ohlind and Intrac must just be amazing I can only imagine.

In short to the OP for your needs you've stated the Gaz Golds well set are great but what you may find over time is they deteriorate quicker than the bigger brands as their springs are not the most durable.

Nitrons with progressive eibach springs on mine, very happy with the setup

I had them all rebuilt quite cheaply (£150 I think) when the car was apart for the chassis refurb.

Ive had the GAZ kit on other cars,[non TVR], and unfortunately i shant be getting anymore.
They are at the budget end of the pricing for a reason...
I like the sound of the Bilstien stuff, as ive experienced them before and the build quality is top notch, just they dont offer adjustments...
The sound of the Intrax is interesting, i just hope there customer service is better that the AST stuff,, thats diabolical...
The hunt continues..

What probs did you have with Gaz, Bilstiens leak all over the place. My post didn't read the best so I wasn't putting words in your mouth if that's what you thought.

Keep searching but if I was recommending I'd say go Nitrons with Eibachs. I can't fault them (and that's just the shocks at my next spring change Eibachs are going on). But then I don't adjust them myself so the pros have looked after me nicely.

Be interesting to see what they fit to the new TVR when it comes out, hoping it'll be high end stuff.

Never considered Intrax - care to explain your preference?

The servicing requirements for top shelf shocks has been a little off putting.

I have ran nitrons for a few years now on Eibach springs, a nice ride on and off the track. Can't fault them.

After a chat with Andy @ APM i'm booked in for set of GAZ Gold Pro's to be fitted in a few weeks. We agreed my requirements don't justify the extra spend for Nitrons.
I was going to get my current GAZ nickels rebuilt but they are in a right state so had to fork out for something better.
