I have a 2014 64 Boxster 2.7 Manual that I'm really not getting much use out of currently. It's on a PCP and I owe £27k odd on it.

I'm kind of feeling it's surplus to requirements as we have two other hot hatches in the household to use which are more the kind of thing I enjoy driving in winter, but I don't know whether to try and sell now (when it's currently -1 outside!) or wait until it warms up? My dilemma is keep paying £400 odd per month and whether that is more than the depreciation until summer?

Its a nice spec that would probably sell any time of the year, and I regularly pass another one on my commute (in the Golf!) Agate Grey, Nav, Chrono, Sensors, Sports seats and a few other toys.

Also thinking that maybe when the 718 comes, the 981s may be more sought after? The jury I think is out on that one though!

What do you think?

The first thing I would do is find out how much the settlement figure is.

I can work out pretty much what it is from the figures on the original finance agreement. c. £26k I'd say

£26k tied up in a car that doesn't get used has "sell" printed through it like Brighton rock.

Stick it on the market in March.

Regardless of the weather, unless of course your in snow country, If you're choosing to drive a hot hatch rather than the Cayman, maybe you've answered your own question.

I'm thinking its time to move it on then.. I guess I'll get my use out of it for the month then speak to my local OPC about buying her..

2014 car - best to sell to OPC or a specialist?

Even a WBAC quote (which doesn't take into account options etc) puts it £1000 ahead of its settlement figure thankfully, but a fair chunk of deposit has been lost.

Still, she's been fun!

I would keep it but then I'm massively fond of the 981 Boxster's shape.

At least you've got a nice bit of equity in the car - I would have thought in excess of £9k?

Yes, keep it. Commute in it a few days a week to make it earn its keep. You'll get a better price from May onwards if you come to sell anyway, giving you a few months to decide what to do.

I guess that's kinda what I was hoping - keep it a few more months and even though I'll be paying per month for it, it won't actually be worth any less? It's worth £100 a month for the fun, and she's kept garaged up so I can go and gaze at it at any time as well which is worth £20 of that..!!

Actually, I can see why you're thinking of selling - that must be difficult to drive.

Probably difficult to sell though.

This is what I'd be doing. If cold weather worries you, stick some winter tyres on November - April, and don't use the right foot so much.
