At approx. 11:41, just after the two smiley chaps talked about dropping over Russia, there was a shot of a dozen or more photos of squadrons, and in one of those photos, somebody had been removed, leaving just a hole in the picture. Is this a "he's dead" thing, or a "he's a secret" thing or something else?

It is a repeat but well worth watching. I've seen both episodes at least twice already.

It leans heavily on James Patterson-Hamilton's book "Empire of the Skies".
