I have just moved into a converted barn and the TV will be in the corner of the living room meaning that ceiling speakers (my normal preference) are not an option due to weird positioning.

I'm thinking of going with a wireless solution of Soundbar and wireless rear speakers.

I do have a Sonos Connect and Connect amp with are doing nothing right now (took them from the last house with ceiling speakers) and was thinking of using a PlayBar and 2 x Play 1's.

However, I have read a fair amount on here with people not liking the Sonos sound when used for music.

So, the question is which soundbar solution is also good for general music in the house? Stuff will be streamed from Spotify so I'm not a real music geek but it needs to sound good.

Is there a good soundbar option or should I utilise the connect or connect amp in some way and treat the music as a separate project?

Thanks
Gary

TL:DR - is there a soundbar that's good for music too or should I do music separately?

I have a Sonos Playbar and two play 1's on Flexon Stands, However it didn't sound that good before I had the Sub delivered, At £600 a Sub makes this a very expensive setup.

I would have thought a soundbar won't give you good 'imaging' for music. That is the effect you get from two speakers placed so that you head is the peak of a triangle, with the speakers angled towards you, forming the base. When done properly you get this 3D sound effect where the speakers disappear from the soundstage. I don't think it would be possible to get that effect from a soundbar, for that reason I'm going to say a soundbar won't work for music. For casual listening while you are doing something else then fine but for serious listening, where that's all you are doing, I'd say no.

Thanks all.

I have since set up my Sonos Connect amp with some Tannoy speakers and that's my music sorted.

Next stop is a soundbar for films.
