Warranty for a private purchase (LP 560-4)
Discussion
I'm very close to doing a deal on a LP 560-4 with a private seller. The car is almost 6 years old with around 13k miles on it. Looked at a few aftermarket warranties but there doesn't seem to be one that stands out. Keep reading horror stories about claims being rejected. Is there one that anyone could recommend or has had experience of? A Lambo main dealer are inspecting the car prior to purchase and it will be serviced at a main dealer in March.

Okay, so Warrantywise have quoted £3056 with a £250 excess for 12 months cover. That's individual claims up to £10k with unlimited claims up to the car's value.
Seems a bit excessive but I'm new to this, any thoughts?
I'd be worried about the £10k limit on such a car. Surely if you're paying 3grand, you'd expect a higher limit, so as to cover the real catastrophic events.Seems a bit excessive but I'm new to this, any thoughts?

Don't bother mate and congrats...
Seen a few people on previous threads saying don't bother. Isn't that a bit risky on a LP though? My old 2008 G was a joy, the only thing that went wrong was the pull handle on the driver's door coming loose. I keep thinking I might not be that lucky again!70proof said:
LP cars more reliable than prelp.... If something big goes wrong, it'll cost more than the warranty limits....
So perhaps I don't bother then. Put the money into the 'fix it' kitty instead. I regret selling my old one so this may be a keeper if all goes well. If that happens, I don't want to be spending £3k every year on a warranty. Surely there must be a fairly comprehensive cover available for less than that? I wonder if a main dealer would put a warranty on it if they inspected it and serviced it beforehand? The RAC Lambo one is around £1500 I've been told. I sold my LP end of last year, one of the options was to sell it SOR through a Lamborghini main dealer, I can't remember exact numbers now but a significant part of the cost to me was the fact that they would have to warrant the car.
So to answer that question yes warranty can be put on the car following an inspection / service.
If the warranty is an issue for you and unless the car you are considering is very keenly priced then why not just haggle a good price on a car at a main dealer ?

I did intend on buying through a main dealer but no one had the right car. Craig at Pangbourne had been working hard to find me one but either the cars were not quite what I wanted or more than I wanted to spend. On that note, he was an absolute star when I did find a couple I liked. He gave me some very useful information about one that is being sold at an independent that I was close to doing a deal on. And when I found one privately he checked the details, confirmed it looked like a good one and gave me some decent advice on buying direct. Good job he's not at a McLaren dealership, they'd have bought it before I put the phone down. I'd have no hesitation buying from him in the future. They'll be looking after this one anyway. Even with a Lambo inspection, adding my own warranty and getting a main dealer major service it's still worth getting this one - my only concern is the warranty really. Saying that the Warrantywise cover is probably better than some of the ones indies give you.
Echo the comments on Craig his a good lad and did exactly the same for me when I bought my 550.
I will be in a similar situation with the 12c middle of this year, £3500 for another years warranty, current thoughts are I will wear it this year and if car remains reliable then I won't bother.
As with all insurance it's a waste of money until you need it, £3500 for your warranty wise one sounds expensive v a McL factory for same money.

£3k warranty with a £10k limit? Stick it in a slush fund imo. Wouldn't surprise me that if you had a claim anywhere close to that limit they'd be all over it trying to find a way of excluding it due to "wear and tear", too.
This is my concern! I'd not really the gambling type but I think maybe no warranty is not such a bad thing if it's an uphill battle to get a claim approved. Adding a warranty on is personal choice to be honest.
Unfortunately Lamborghini themselves don’t offer the facility of adding or extending a warranty (Or at least they didn’t used to, maybe things have changed). My opinion for what it’s worth, take the £3k every year & put it in a separate account, then if anything goes wrong that would most likely cover it.
Just make sure you get the car inspected in the first place
