The cover on the above pump on my 997.1 3.6 has recently started leaking and needs replacing. Has anyone got experience of having this done? I understand that I'll need a new pump fitted.

How much labour is involved?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

The pump is changed without any other major component removal - unless the vacuum pipe is corroded and seized in which case the airbox needs to come out. If the retaining bolts seize or snap it's a drama.

There is an aftermarket cover solution - not heard much about it but would be cheaper than a replacement pump at C £600.....

Thanks Pope, that's really useful. I'll give 9M a call in the morning and see what they say. My local specialist reckons he needs to drop the engine to replace the pump so labour costs were quite eye watering! 😢

Defo not an engine out job. Decent indie would take c.1hr on Carrera I think.
What did 9e suggest out of interest?

ETA - sorry, did you mean ninemeister?

Nine mister sounded good and if I lived up north I'd have definitely taken it up to them. Issue is that 1) they don't have the part in stock at the moment and 2) I couldn't find anyone down here who seemed confident in fitting it. Everyone seems to go for the direct pump replacement.

In the end I've booked it in with Porsche week after next. At least that way when I come to sell people can see its all be done properly.
